## Curriculum Vitae

My name is Bogosel Beniamin.  I am 24 years old and I am happily married to a beautiful woman, Cristina. I currently live in Chambery, France.

I am a PHD student in Mathematics under the coordination of Dorin Bucur and Edouard Oudet at Universite de Savoie, Chambery, France.

I finished my master degree at West University Timisoara, Research Master programme – Analytic and Geometric System Modelling. From January 2012 to June 2012 I am studying at Universite de Savoie, Chambery, France. The last five months of my master degree I studied for my final paper at Universite de Savoie under the coordination of Dorin Bucur and Edouard Oudet.

In my master paper I studied some theoretical and numerical results about a mathematical model of the energy of a configuration of immiscible fluids. The paper can be found here: these

I started being good at math in 7-th grade, when I found a few old math books my father had when he was young. I started solving many geometry problems, and became pretty good at that. I received a ton of math books from my father’s chief at work, since his son finished college, and Romanian Mathematical Gazette helped me develop even more. My math teacher started training me for the olympiad, and in the 7-th grade I came up 1st on my district.

Starting from 7th grade until the 12th grade I was the first on my district in all but one year. I was also always between the top 3-4 math students on the south-western Romania, and came up two times on the first place. At the Romanian National Mathematical Olympiad I always succeeded to enter in the first 20, two times I was in top 10 students, and once I came up second.

In the 7th and 8th grade I was a part of the large team of 25 students selected for the preparation and tests for the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad. In the 8th grade I was part of the team and I obtained a bronze medal. During the highschool years I qualified two times in the Romanian large team of 25 students for preparation and tests for the International Mathematical Olympiad.

I obtained my bachelor degree with honors and maximum grade (10 out of 10) at West University, Timisoara, Romania. My graduation paper is: The Exponential Function and $\mathcal{C}_0$semigroups, coordinated by Preda Petre, West University Timisoara. Apart of my good performance in the courses taken in my university years, I participated in many mathematical competitions. I considered that this was a good way to test my skills and my knowledge against my colleagues from other universities from my country and from the world.

I participated in the national mathematical contest Traian Lalescu in the following sections:

• problem solving contest: First prize 2008, Second prize 2009;
• student research project talks: 2009 – Special functions with intermediate value property, 2010 – p-adic numbers and applications, 2011 – Isoperimetric inequalities and applications

The contest International Mathematical Competition for University Students in short IMC is held annually in the Eastern Europe countries and it gathers students from all over the world for two sessions of 5 or 6 problems each. Usually problems are very challenging and interesting. I obtained the following results:

• 2010 – First Prize;
• 2008,2009,2011 – Second Prize;

The contest South Eastern European Mathematical Olympiad for University Students – SEEMOUS is an equivalent to the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad for the first two years of university students. My results are:

• 2009 – Bronze Medal.

A very interesting project was organized by Ariel University Samaria. It is called Internet Mathematical Olympiad. Students register prior to participating in the olympiad. The problems are posted on the website at a precise hour, and the solutions must be submitted by mail in 4 or 5 hours time. Usually there is an preliminary round in the fall and the final round in the spring. Beside the individual competition, from time to time there are team competitions. For more details see the website. My best results were

• 2009, 2010, 2011 – Gold Medal in the final round;
• 2010 – Absolute champion;
• September 2011 – First prize in the ‘Live’ competition held at the Ariel University Samaria, Israel.

A similar project was organized by the Shaastra project. I participated in the first round in 2011 and obtained second prize.

I also participated as an evaluator in various math contests during the period 2008-2011 like

• ‘Traian Lalescu’ regional contest – South-Western Romania;
• ‘TM Mate’ regional and International contest organized in Timisoara.

I also proposed one problem for the district round of the Romanian National Mathematical Olympiad, and one problem for the Romanian Team Selection Tests for the International Mathematical Olympiad.

I participated in the realization of two collections of problems for the preparation for the mathematical olympiad:

• Geometry. Angle Chasing, in Romanian, appeared in 2010. You can buy it online at this address.
• Problems in Algebraic Structures, a book with problems for preparation of the 12th grade olympiad. You can buy it at this link.

I published in collaboration three articles in the Romanian Mathematical Gazette:

• Cezar Lupu, Bogosel Beniamin, On an equation on positive real numbers, Romanian Mathematical Gazette, Series B, No. 10/2008, pag. 482.
• Bogosel Beniamin, Tania-Luminita Costache, Cezar Lupu, Problems and Solutions from SEEMOUS 2011 Competition, Romanian Mathematical Gazette, Series A, No. 1-2/2011, pag. 36
• Bogosel Beniamin, Special Functions with the Intermediate Value Property, to appear in Romanian Mathematical Gazette, Series A, No 1-2/2012

In November 2011 I participated in an intensive course on Shape Optimization organized at West University Timisoara by Bucur Dorin and Bogdan Sasu. The lecturers were Giuseppe Buttazzo (with come theoretical aspects) and Edouard Oudet (with a presentation of some numerical results). For more details see the Shape Optimization page.

I am a member in the research project Asymptotic and Geometric Properties of Dinamical Systems with Applications to Control Theory, director Adina Luminita Sasu, West University Timisoara.

I am also active on multiple mathematical communities:

Apart from my mathematical life, I like to play the piano, I like sports (like cycling, volleyball, football). I enjoy testing my programming skills from time to time with Project Euler. I know at a reasonable level the following programming languages: C, Python, Pari-GP, Maple, Matlab. I can speak/read/write English pretty fluent (although I don’t have any certificates to prove it 🙂 ) and I am making progress in learning French.

Frate chiar ma bucur cand vad romani buni ce nu se duc in afara chiar daca in tara au mici dificultati.
P.S.Te stiu de pe mateforum si imi plac rezolvarile pe care le propui.
